Learn the method behind the message at Marketing Jaguar Pride, a half-day seminar sponsored by the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Marketing Association (JAMA) on Thursday, May 27, at the Main Library Conference Center in downtown Jacksonville.

Marketing Jaguar Pride will discuss the evolution of the Jacksonville Jaguars marketing program, forming strategic local partnerships and relationship-building efforts between the team and the community at-large. Presenters will include Macky Weaver, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Peter Racine, Executive Director of the Jaguars Foundation. The luncheon keynote address will be delivered by Carl Cannon, Chairman for Touchdown Jacksonville: Revive the Pride.

Join us for a glimpse inside the team’s tactics and the development of its advanced marketing approach to reach out to the community and “Market Jaguar Pride” in Northeast Florida. This special half-day seminar includes breakfast and lunch.

Carl Cannon worked 42 years with Morris Communications and was named publisher of the Florida  Times-Union in 1990. Carl now leads the Touchdown Jacksonville effort to revitalize the support and passion for the Jaguars that existed in years past, and to ensure the sustainability of the Jaguars within the Jacksonville community. As Chairman of Touchdown Jacksonville: Revive the Pride, he is working tirelessly to re-energize area fans, increase local season ticket sales and prevent television blackouts in the 2010 season.

Macky Weaver is responsible for overseeing the sales and service of all sponsor inventory associated with the Jaguars and Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. In addition, he is responsible for the sales of the Jaguars media department, including Jaguars radio and TV broadcasting as well as jaguars.com, the team's website. Unique to the NFL, this allows the Jaguars unprecedented control of the sales efforts of the team. He originally joined the Jaguars on May 15, 1994 as an account executive in corporate sponsorship.

Peter Racine oversees grantmaking and other programs for the Jaguars Foundation, the philanthropicarm of the team.  Racine began his career in nonprofit work as a college volunteer at Covenant House’s homeless and runaway youth shelter in New York City and went on to help begin Covenant House’s programs in Houston, Texas and Toronto, Canada.  From 1987 to 1992, he and his spouse Kelly established Covenant House’s programs for Honduran street children in Honduras, Central America where he served as Executive Director.  He was featured on Dateline-NBC for his work with young glue addicts and in Time Magazine for work on behalf of minors exploited by prostitution rings.  Prior to joining the Jaguars Foundation in September of 2000, Racine was Executive Director of the Northeast Florida Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
